The local SEO community is buzzing about changes in Google’s local pack. It seems that local results found in the local pack have undergone some serious shuffling, which indicates that we may just have an algorithm update going on.

It could be a core local ranking change or it could be Google cleaning up the spam in the local index; either way, it has SEOs and webmasters sitting up a little straighter.

Who does this affect?

This update affects anyone who already does, or aspires to appear in the local ranking pack. This is most businesses who service people in their area.

Why should you care?

If you were in the local pack, this algo update may have caused you to drop out which is, obviously, bad for website traffic and overall sales.
If you weren’t in the local pack this update represents an opportunity to get in there! This post tells you how.
