Instagram has released a new video app on its platform called IGTV, short for Instagram Television.
You’ll notice the new icon in the top-right corner when logging into your Instagram account, when you tap on the icon you’ll immediately be directed to a new screen where you’ll see auto-play videos from channels you already follow.
Anyone can create an IGTV account which allows users to post 4k vertical video content of up to an hour long (the previous limit was 60 seconds). Initially, everyone will be able to post videos for up to 10 minutes long, users or influencers with more followers will be able to post videos for up to 1 hour long, but these limits are only temporary.
Instagram has now reached 1 billion active monthly users, 500 million daily active users and is said to be the fastest growing social app at the moment, so the new video app addition could be a game-changer.
